Default Petition: Canthan Titles for Tyrian Characters

Hello, all. I have been in correspondance with Anet about Tyrian characters attaining Canthan Protector, or Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer. This is what they had to say.

"Thank you for contacting the Guild Wars Support team on this. Since Tyrian characters are not able to enter some areas of Cantha, those characters will not be able to receive the full titles for Canthan Cartographer (100%) nor the Canthan Protector (13/13). This is working as designed.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, if you feel that a change should be made to this design, we would like to encourage you to consider posting this as a suggestion on one of many of the Guild Wars Fansite message boards. A compiled list can be found here (http://www.guildwars.com/community/fansites/). By posting on one of these message boards, other players can comment on your ideas, concerns, and suggestions, and Development Team members are able to catch up on what the community wants to see in Guild Wars. Fansite forums make it easy and efficient for us to learn from those playing the game."

I personally do not see the functional reason behind not allowing characters from Tyria or Cantha to visit some of their counterparts' areas. I mean, yeah, they say that only Canthan natives can get training at the monastery, but beyond that WHY would something like this be? If someone wants to take their level 20 and do some boring training area stuff so that they can get a few extra titles, why not let them?

My personal advice: upon completion of the game, Minister Cho is so impressed with you that he allows you to visit his estate, etc etc.

Anyway, this thread is intended to allow Anet to gauge how many people disagree with this. If it becomes popular, I would be indebted to the various moderators for Sticky status. Remember: It can't hurt to show support, and it might even help.

Should canthan characters then be able to travel back in time, to see pre-searing?

As you say, there is absolutely no compelling reason to prohibit people who have paid for both games to access 100% of the content with their characters (regardless of where those characters were "born"). I see this as limitation for the sake of limitation.

Practically speaking, I suspect the real motivation behind this restriction is to force players working towards the "Kind of a Big Deal" title to focus on maxing some of the gold sink title tracks (Drunkard, anyone?). If ANet really wants to get money out of our vaults and back into the system, how about offering players services that might entice them to part with their gold (e.g. the ability to customize your character's facial features, add jewelry, etc.)?

/signed! I agree 100% that we should be able to go everywhere and do everything in Ch2 with our pre-existing characters.

That sort of money sink sounds really good. I'd actually change the color of my char's hair, cause when I made it I was on a different PC/monitor.

Accessories would be nice too, especially with armor class and modifiers. Health/Str/etc necklace/amulet/ankh. One ring for each hand that offers a nice bonus too.

Yes, but only if they can be Level 20 with 15k armor, full storage access, a plethora of scams, and uber weapons. If they meet this requirement, then all drops should be 100k in gold + 25 ectos + 10 black dye, but only for the level 20, the lower levels get nothing.

I'm all about that!

Why? There is nothing in Pre-Searing that you need in Post Searing. Especially for the Titles.

Tyrian characters are not travelling back in time. If a Tyrian can get the Shing Jea Monastery then there is no time travel involved!

Canthan characters cannot go back 2 years to Pre-Sear because Tyrian characters cannot go back in time!

Allow Tyrian characters to complete all missions and explore all of the map. And allow Canthan characters the same!

Should be a differnet title. Since Canthan born have no access to pre-LA missions.

All for one and one for all!
If the game and characters are deemed continuous and not as totally seperate games ( in which case why should we purchase upgrades ). Then it would seem that all missions should be available to all players, and with them the right to earn the titles thus set forth for all characters in this game. or is this game just another scam to get us to part with our bucks claiming that it is continuous, and that the characters are continuous in the game world, when infact we are purchasing a totally new game with each installment with limited compatability to the game(s) that we purchased previously.

I was wondering why someone posted this suggestion lol. Cause I have my 100% of Cantha and 13/13 missions on my Tyrian Warrior so its already possible.

I have to admit to being a little bit confused to this post.

You were told by Anet that Tyrian characters CANNOT get canthan 100% exploration or protector?

In which case explain this.....

....My Tyrian elemental!

I can never understand why people believe this myth that tyrians cannot get both those titles in cantha.

All I can say is that the evidence is infront of you to say otherwise!
